OMAHA, Neb. – Height should have nothing to do with justice, Nebraska’s top law enforcement officer said on Thursday.
District Judge Kristine Cecava of Cheyenne County on Tuesday sentenced Richard Thompson, 50, on two counts of sexually assaulting a minor. He given 10 years of probation by a judge who said the man was too small to survive prison.
On Thursday, Nebraska Attorney General Jon Bruning said he’ll appeal the decision.
Jon Bruning has proven time and again where children stand with him - they are a top priority. He has made some tough, yet warranted decisions regarding kids (Matthew Koso is one that comes to mind, not to mention Internet safety) and stands firm in his conviction to make sure kids are safe.
This quote from Bruning says it all:
“I don’t care if he’s 3 feet tall,” Bruning said. “If you abuse a child, you’re going to pay a price.”

Judge claims child molester "too small" for prison. Nebraska AG sez: "he ain't too small for a good ol' fashioned corncob party"...
Shorty should have thought of that before doing the crime.
What makes the judge think that he is now going to be able to survive outside prison? This kid has a father right?
The minute I saw this story, I thought, "I'll bet Merri has this nailed." Whats next? "You can't put me in prison, I'm bald and the other fellows will tease me."
Steve King, a Nebraska prison spokesman said, "He's not the shortest guy we have in prison. We've got some short guys that are as tough as nails." Bruce Lee was only 5" taller than this greasy little pederast.
Solution: get rid of these judges. Mark their names down, and remind voters of their asinine decisions when they come up for retention.

Thompson was arrested on June 18 in Florida when he returned to the United States from Honduras, where he apparently fled after becoming aware that he was under investigation in California. Thompson has been held in the San Joaquin County Jail since July 1, charged with six counts of continuous child molestation, six counts of lewd and lascivious acts with children, and failure to register as a sex offender. Thompson was convicted of sex offenses involving children in 1975 and 1981 in San Diego County.
Thompson, a Stockton area resident since the mid-1980s, is believed to have had contact with dozens of children in recent years. He is charged with molesting at least eight boys age seven to 12, all of Cambodian descent, at his house after being entrusted with them by their parents. Investigators found that he transported the children to church activities and outings, allowed them to play with toys or video games at his house, and purchased toys and meals for them. Over time, a number of parents allowed their children to participate in weekend sleepovers at Thompson's house. Thompson allegedly molested the children during these sleepovers.
This was one of the worst miscarriages of justice ever. I don't see how this "judge" can sleep at night. Thompson deserves everything he gets in prison and more.
